How to Pay at Starbucks - Starbucks Stories

No matter how customers choose to pay at Starbucks, the goal is to deliver a seamless payment experience. By accepting a variety of payment methods, Starbucks allows customers to select the option most convenient and relevant to them.

The Starbucks App

The Starbucks app offers customers the fastest way to pay and earn Stars through the Starbucks Rewards™ loyalty program. Customers can also use the app to locate the nearest store, order ahead and use contactless payment. Starbucks® Rewards members in the U.S. and Canada earn Stars by first scanning their Starbucks app (earns 2 Stars per $1 spent), and then paying with a Starbucks Card, cash, credit/debit cards, or select mobile wallets (earns 1 Star per $1 spent). Members are also able to save credit/debit cards or a PayPal account directly in the Starbucks app to scan and pay and earn Stars seamlessly in one step. 

Additional accepted payment methods at Starbucks include:

Starbucks Cards: Available for purchase in Starbucks stores, online as a Starbucks eGift or in the Starbucks app, Starbucks Cards are available in a variety of designs and can be loaded with $5-$500 (or $10-$100 when purchasing in the app).

Apple Pay®: Customers can use Apple Pay to reload their Starbucks Card through the Starbucks® app for iOS. In addition, customers can use Apple Pay outside of the Starbucks app as payment at participating Starbucks® locations.

Google Pay®: Customers can use Google Pay to reload their Starbucks Card through the Starbucks® app for Android™.  In addition, customers can use Google Pay outside of the Starbucks app as payment at participating Starbucks® locations.

PayPal™: Customers can use PayPal™ to reload their Starbucks Card through the mobile app or at Starbucks.com/card. Customers can also save their PayPal™ account in the Starbucks app to pay directly – either in-store or when ordering ahead using the Starbucks app.

Venmo™: Customers can use Venmo™ to reload their Starbucks Card through the mobile app or at Starbucks.com/card. Customers can also save their Venmo™ account in the Starbucks app to pay directly – either in-store or when ordering ahead using the Starbucks app.  

Credit or Debit Cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover Credit Cards are accepted in-store. Customers can also save a credit or debit card in the Starbucks app to pay directly – either in-store or when ordering ahead using the Starbucks App.

Cash is always an option too.
